I have been so fortunate to be able to continue my growth and expansion of yoga. My most recent experience was in Park City, UT with Baron Baptiste. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Baron he is known for Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga. Baron’s approach is to empower and encourage the student to really expand into their fullest potential, into his or her authentic nature, dissolving that which holds us back, and actively accepting who we are and who we are not. His sense of humor and simplicity keeps you engaged and interested… the time just fly’s. His flow is accessible to anyone… with simple modifications it could be more or less intense.

Going into the training I had no expectations or even any idea as to what I was about to experience. Baron shared his passion and inspiration for yoga in a very accessible and powerful way. It is always so interesting to me to see all the different ways that yoga is being shared and taught throughout the world. People from a variety of backgrounds were present for this playful weekend adventure.

Friday morning I rolled out my mat in a beautifully heated studio. I was sweating before the practice even began. The first session had me dripping a pool of sweat on my mat, where I had to carefully ground my hands and feet so I wouldn’t slip. The intense fire that was created in the room was like a clearing; for harbored stress, limits or emotions that I at times struggle with and fight. As the weekend progressed I had released buckets of toxins and felt completely rung out. My worries dissolved as I realized that what I stress out about really isn’t as bad as it seems. This is one of the greatest gifts the practice of yoga gives me… an ability to see things as they really are.

To those of you who are interested in expanding your experience and knowledge of yoga, I encourage you to get out there and sign up for a Yoga Workshop or training. To fully immerse into a practice is such a powerful and invigorating experience. There are many amazing teachers out there that can facilitate your opportunity to unfold and peel away the layers that cover your heart and mind. Ultimately the practice is the teacher but to be supported by a yoga community is a beautiful and inspiring thing.
