Morning Wake-up Sequence

December 15, 2008 by Neesha | 24 comments

Some days it can be hard to spring out of bed with a smile – at times, the body needs a little coaxing. It is my hope that this short sequence will help do just that. Designed to shake the cobwebs and relieve morning stiffness, it will leave you feeling alert and oxygenated for the start of a productive day.

Feel free to modify and do as many sun salutations as are appropriate for your body and your schedule – sun salutes wake up every major muscle group and release the vitality that you’ve recharged through the night. Have a delightful morning!

hmmmm!!! Sorry, but the am routine in bed with the little underwear and long socks is in really bad taste. I’m liberal and open, but this is not Yoga……
in peace
Nicole

Nicole I think you’re ridiculously prude. You can’t expect people to get out of bed fully clothed. She’s not doing the routine in the naked.
The only negative comment I can make is that it’s hard to do sunsalutes in the morning when you are very stiff. And I can certainly not do a bow pose at that hour ;-)

I like her outfit! It’s cool. It looks like the same stuff I wear to bed. What is she supposed to do, wear some lame old lady nightgown?

Actually, I love Neesha’s creativity and adventurous spirit. Yay, Neesha! Keep up the fun and valuable blog posts! Yoga can take on many forms… Why set artificial limitis?

THANK YOU

(Nicole – why make such a limiting and negative comment?)

Neesha, you rock. You have helped me so much over the past year – you have no idea. Thank you so much for this sequence, it was just what I needed this week.

Namaste :)

I enjoyed this sequence, even tho I tried it in the afternoon. It will be great to try again in the a.m. or if I find myself on the road and need a quick yoga fix.

Thank you.

Thanks Neesha for the am routine. It really helps wake me up in the morning!

Dear Yoga Today,
Thank you so much for Yoga Today!! I love it and am so grateful!! I did Adi’s healthy back class today and really enjoyed it.
Shanti,
Barb

First of all thank you for this great lesson (definitely the best one on the blog so far!)! I have to get ready for a Christmas party I’m hosting in 2 hours and just don’t have the time for a full hour or more of Yoga. This lesson saved me! Thank you!

Secondly, this was a great idea for a lesson! REALLY well shot! Kudos to the director! I’m starting to teach Baby Yoga classes in the new year and classes like this are a great inspiration for some Yoga I can do with the mums while the babies are with them.

Finally, love the music you guys choose and thanks for informing us of the track names! Through iTunes I’m making my own Yoga Today soundtrack. You guys should think of producing your own Yoga Today CD or something (but I guess the DVDs come first. Can’t wait for those!)

Keep up the great work!

I always get so much from Neesha and all of Yoga Today. I love her socks, where can you buy them?
Thanks always.

I loved this sequence! It was exactly what I needed and it felt great.

loved it!!
Neesha is such a hottie.
And she is nothing but yoga…long socks, undies , and everything.
Yoga through and through.
Keep up the great work girls.

Neesha and others who contributed to this video,

I am grateful to be able to practice yoga and connect through these means on the Yoga Today Blog. This morning wake-up sequence video rocks!

In celebration of Neesha’s outfit and dedication,

To Colleen:

You can probably get those socks, or something similar, at http://www.sockdreams.com. They are a small business in the northwest of the US that offeres a variety of socks with many hard to find styles. I did not realize I had such a sock addiction until a friend referred me to them!

I think its great that they are looking at other ways that Yoga can be incorporated into our lives. Keep ‘em coming!

hi Neesha! I wish I lived in WY, I would totally come to your studio! :) I love this sequence, and all of them really! You are a heart felt teacher and what a joy to practice with ya!

I posted your sequence on my blog today, January 16th, if you want to take a look! :)

Have a lovely day and stay warm, it’s FREEZIN here! XOXO

I am a supporter of Neesha and Yoga Today, but I have to agree with Nicole. I have plenty of cute pajama pants that would have looked just as nice and stylish– without the tush exposure.
Shanti,
Heidi

I LOVED this! I am new to yoga and I found this easy to do, to a point, and wonderfully relaxing for my stiff morning body. For a person that doesn’t usually do anything more then tv and coffee in the morning, this was awesome.
Thank you!!!
Amanda

Thanks for the shorter classes, they help me to fit a daily short yoga session in before work at a time when it isn’t practical to do an hour of yoga. I am having trouble with the morning wake-up routine. For some reason the sound doesn’t work. The sound works fine on the other videos, so I’m not sure why this one won’t work.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Amy Gould

Thank you so much for these podcasts! I especially love this one, as getting myself up and early in the morning and having the motivation to do anything physical is incredibly hard — Neesha makes yoga so fun, her smile and style is so energetic I can’t help but follow along!

These short ones are also a lot easier for me, as I’m a beginner and incredibly inflexible — the way everything is talked through and explained is so much easier than trying to learn from a book.

Thank you for just being you, keep up the amazing work!

I liked very much Thankyou

This was great, thanks!!

And it’s not like Neesha’s wearing something like Ana Brett in ALL her and Ravi Singh’s kungalini yoga videos (which are AWFUL, by the way!!).

Yoga is yoga, clothes are irrelevant. HELLO.

This is sooooo good!! Seriously. Thank you so much!! When I do this in the AM I remain in a good mood and don’t even need my coffee!! ^_^

Neesha,
You are awesome! I love your outfit, too. :) I currently working toward becoming Anusara inspired and have always loved your classes via the web. You were my first experience with Anusara and I love it sooo much! Thanks so much, girl.
XOXO

Thanks for this – I do it every morning now!

For those complaining about the clothing or lack of it… what’s wrong with the human body that makes it so scandalous to see a bit more of it? Neesha is in amazing shape and even if she were naked it would be beautiful rather than trashy. Change your attitude and concentrate on the meaning of yoga, not what people are wearing!
