Description
No food symbolizes love better than chocolate. Raw chocolate is made using cacao. Raw cacao (kuh-cow) is the real, whole-food source of chocolate. It’s one of the worlds superfoods, too. When people talk about chocolate being good for you, this is the kind they mean. It’s bursting with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and “happy brain” chemicals. In some countries it’s known as the “Food of the Gods”. Cacao has been used to treat ailments, as a aphrodisiac and as an anti-depressant. It’s a complex and magical food that you can enjoy at home.
Ingredients
| 1⁄2 | c | cacao powder |
| 1⁄4 | c | coconut oil |
| 1⁄4 | c | cacao butter |
| 1 | T | raw almond butter |
| 1 | Unknown | vanilla bean (scrape out insides (can substitute with 1 tsp vanilla extract)) |
| 1 | pn | salt |
| 2 | T | coconut nectar |
Instructions
- Melt the cacao butter and coconut oil together in a double boiler.
- Add almond butter to the warm mixture and stir until it’s dissolved.
- Pour in cacao powder, coconut nectar, vanilla and salt. Mix together.
- Taste test and see if you want to add anything.
- Pour into moulds or something like mini cupcake pans.
- Store in the freezer and enjoy the health benefits of cacao.
Notes
Play with this recipe! You can try other natural & raw sweeteners like sucanat, maple syrup, and date sweetener. You can also add spices like cinnamon and nutmeg or ground espresso for a little kick.
