When people talk about chocolate being good for you, this is the kind they mean. It’s bursting with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and “happy brain” chemicals. In some countries it’s known as the “Food of the Gods”. Cacao has been used to treat ailments, as a aphrodisiac and as an anti-depressant. It’s a complex and magical food that you can enjoy at home.


1⁄2 c cacao powder
1⁄4 c coconut oil
1⁄4 c cacao butter
1 T raw almond butter
1 Unknown vanilla bean (scrape out insides (can substitute with 1 tsp vanilla extract))
1 pn salt
2 T coconut nectar


  1. Melt the cacao butter and coconut oil together in a double boiler.
  2. Add almond butter to the warm mixture and stir until it’s dissolved.
